SEATTLE - Seattle Sounders FC return home to face FC Dallas on Monday at CenturyLink Field in the second leg of the clubs Western Conference semifinal series. You can watch all the action on TSN2 beginning at 10:30pm et/7:30pm pt. The club met three times during the regular season and each game was fairly close, with Seattle winning two one-goal affairs in April and May, while FC Dallas claimed a 3-1 win over Seattle in September. The sides matchup well with FC Dallas young, quick forwards against Seattles sturdy back line, and the first leg of the series was a tight affair with the clubs finishing level at 1-1 at Toyota Stadium. It was the home side the grabbed the lead in the 34th minute when Andres Escobar worked his way past two Sounders into the penalty box and was taken down on the slide by Marco Pappa, resulting in a penalty kick. Michel stepped to the spot and blasted it past the outstretched arm of Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei. Seattle drew level in the 54th minute with some excellent set-piece work. Pappa atoned for his rash tackle earlier by sending a perfect free kick between the FCD back line and the goalkeeper, allowing midfielder Osvaldo Alonso to find some space and nod it down and past FCD goalkeeper Raul Fernandez for his first goal of the postseason. Dallas had a late chance to take the lead in the 90th minute as Fabian Castillo got free down the right flank and forced a superb save from Frei, who parried a quick strike over the crossbar. The draw favors Seattle slightly in Mondays second leg as the club has an upper hand via the newly-instituted away-goals tiebreaker. Should the match finish scoreless, the Sounders would advance. Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid said his club played the first leg exactly how they wanted. Were happy with the result, Schmid said. We talked about making sure at the end of game one we put ourselves in a position to win it in game two. Weve always done a good job of being at home in the second game and winning the second game. I think in years past we were maybe a little naive coming into this first series playing away and finding ourselves in a deep hole, center back Zach Scott added. Now with the new away goals rule I thought we played it exactly the way we wanted to. FC Dallas did well to match wits with Seattle stars Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins, holding them both off the score sheet and despite not getting the win, the team was encouraged by the performance. I think it show a lot of our character, FC Dallas defender Matt Hedges said. It didnt look like we had played three games in eight days. Everybody had fresh legs, put in their work and it got us a result. FC Dallas will also get a boost to their lineup as playmarker Mauro Diaz is set to return after missing the first leg due to suspension. We have 90 minutes and we can score there also, said FCD head coach Oscar Pareja. It is what it is. The series is open. The first 90, and its a tie. We will go to Seattle and trying to do what we can do. This team is not afraid to play anyone. Steve Mandanda Jersey . He left in the 4th inning of Saturdays game against the Tigers after experiencing tightness. Reyes and the team still hope that he will be ready for Opening Day in Tampa Bay in one week.LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The way this season is slipping away, coach Marc Trestman can understand the frustration around Chicago. The losses are piling up. The playoff hopes are all but gone. And the Bears somehow hit a new low when that seemed impossible. We know our fans are disappointed, Trestman said Monday, a day after the Bears got pounded 55-14 at Green Bay. They have a right to be. This has been a very disturbing stretch of three weeks. Theres no doubt about it. But were focused in and the only way we can work our way out of this is to go get ready for Minnesota.Calls for sweeping, top-to-bottom changes are ripping through Chicago like a winter wind gust, and no one from the McCaskey family owners on down is being spared. There are big questions about Trestman and general manager Phil Emery with Chicago poised to miss the playoffs for the seventh time in eight years. There is even more heat on defensive co-ordinator Mel Tucker, whose unit gave up more than 50 points for the second straight game. But just as he did two weeks ago, Trestman said hes not making any changes to his staff at this time. He continued to back Tucker and insisted hes not concerned that quarterback Jay Cutler may be losing the support of his teammates. The bigger issue is whether the Bears (3-6) are losing the support of their fan base after losing for the fifth time in six games. The debacle at Green Bay was just as ugly as the 51-23 loss at New England two weeks earlier. As Ive said before this, I think this team and this locker room is in a good place at this time, Trestman said. And were in a position where we have to work our way out of this. And I think the team is focused on doing this.He reiterated Monday that the Bears are preparing well. Its just that their performance in practice is not translating to the games, and he cant pinpoint why.Tucker has been a popular target with the defence struggling in his two seasons. He was essentially given a do-over after injuries gutted the defence a year ago. But the performance has not improved despite a major overhaul in the off-season.The Bears have been outscored a combined 106-37 overall the past two games and 94-7 in the first half of their past three. They have allowed 50 or more points in three of their past 11 games, something they had only done six times before. To me, (Tucker is) doing everything hhe can under the circumstances to coach, to teach and to lead that side of the ball, and hes got a very good staff with him, Trestman said.ddddddddddddFive-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen has just 1 1/2 sacks after signing a four-year deal that guaranteed $15.5 million. Defensive end Lamarr Houston, a key off-season addition, suffered a season-ending injury to his right knee celebrating a sack in the closing minutes at New England, one of the more embarrassing moments for the Bears this season. You know, we have good players, Allen said. We just arent obviously a good team. When you get beat down like this, you cant really say much else, I guess. Its not just the defence, though. An offence that ranked among the best last season is regressing in a big way in Trestmans second year. Cutler continues to make the same mistakes that have defined his career, and he cant seem to do anything right against Green Bay. Including the playoffs, Cutler is 1-11 against the Packers after another forgettable performance that included two interceptions.Even Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker took a shot at him, tweeting Monday: After this past week, I still have more wins in WI than Jay Cutler.Trestman said he did not consider lifting Cutler at halftime when the Bears trailed 42-0 and the quarterback had two turnovers. He also said hes not concerned that teammates support for their quarterback might be waning. And when asked if he thought about benching Cutler against Minnesota this weekend, Trestman indicated thats not an option.I think the biggest thing is that Jay has got to play better, Trestman said. He didnt play well enough (Sunday), and we didnt play well enough and Im certain that hed take accountability for that. But its very clear he did not play well enough yesterday. We cant sugarcoat that. At the same time we didnt play collectively well enough as a team.NOTE: Trestman said hes very optimistic about Brandon Marshalls availability after the receiver exited in the fourth quarter with a left ankle injury. Marshall was slowed by a right ankle injury earlier this season. ... The Bears waived CB Teddy Williams and elevated G Ryan Groy from the practice squad. Williams appeared in five games for Chicago this season, recording two special teams tackles.___Online:AP NFL websites: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP_NFL ' ' '
