This is turning out to be a hard first year. Among other things, the ELL team is phasing in lesson plan components. The most recent addition is Linguistic Participation. Basically it means using structures (like Kagan) that force students to speak and interact with each other to process learning. We were given a card with some structures and a book (not Kagan) with other activities, but here's the killer. Every activity either involves multiple groups interacting (my biggest class is five kids) and/or involves reading and writing. How the heck to these work with semi-literate 1st graders? I am really at a loss and completely stressing out about this. Any help would be appreciated.
Please don't suggest I ask my mentor or another ELL teacher in the building. My mentor just had emergency surgery, and the other ELL teacher is just as lost as I am. References: http://forums.atozteacherstuff.com/index...t-grade.186669/ unlock Exemples. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
